Zone V

This week I'm working in Manila and as I didn't have any appointments last night I visited a shopping mall near my hotel that was holding a photo exhibition by one of Manila's biggest camera clubs; ZONEV. The name of this club came from Ansel Adam's famous zoning technique.

The collection of images were all of religious buildings. Most were of ancient churches in the Philippines that were built by the Spanish during their lengthy control of the country and the rest were from other Asian countries, mostly of Buddhist temples.

The quality of images ranged from quite good to excellent, and it really got me thinking about joining a club because I could see how such an active club could help in so many ways improve my photography. They hold regular competitions, arrange outings, training and even overseas trips. Many of the members have won prestigeous internation competitions.

I'll be looking into what clabs exist in Bangkok when I get back.
